Glenbrook Carnival 2011

Thank you all to those that attended the carnival this year. Special thanks to all those volunteers that helped out on the day.

The results have now been uploaded to Swimming NSW. For clubs after the Meet Manager exports for MM or TM please select the Glenbrook Carnival link on the left side panel.

Nepean Carnival 2011

Glenbrook Swimming Clubs first targeted carnival for the summer season proved very successful at the Nepean Aquatic Swim meet held on Sunday 30th October at SOPAC. As a team, the kids achieved fantastic times with a swag of personal best times, country qualifying times even a national age time. Medals were also not in short supply with several gold and bronze medals being awarded to individual swimmers. New comers to the carnival scene were also in attendance again chipping in with PB’s using the carnival as a warm up to the long summer of carnivals ahead and no doubt and addition to the medal tally for Glenbrook Swimming Club.

Glenbrook will be hosting our own swimming carnival on Sunday 13th November at Glenbrook Pool and look forward to seeing a huge contingent of swimmers from both the metropolitan and country regions of New South Wales. The Glenbrook carnival is favored by many metropolitan clubs being right on the boundary of the country region making a great change from the more populated areas. For those interested in joining Glenbrook Swimming Club – it’s still not too late, please contact Matt Neale 0420 808349 to register your interest and arrange to join in our Monday Club nights

Congratulations again to all the Glenbrook swimmers (from left to right) Jeb Burton, Eloise Trotter, Gabrielle Neale, Connor Hartley, Kieren Picking, Jake Greig, Fraser Brown, Daniel Neale, Brooke Hartley, Nicholas Hawkins and Claudia Neale.

MPS Area Championships 2011

Glenbrook swimmers attended the Mountains and Plains District Carnival at Cowra on the 5th and 6th of February. All the Glenbrook swimmers and parents had a fantastic time, this was helped along by Glenbrook Swimming Club funding a return coach trip for all. The swimmers all had outstanding results even whilst having to deal with extremes in temperatures. Many swimmers achieved Personal Best times and were rewarded with medal placing's. We need to say a big thankyou to all the parents for their assistance with timekeeping and other official duties, without your help these carnivals would not be able to run. Thank you also to our great Race Secretary (Leslie Harris) for all your behind the scenes work with entries and relay organisation. Due to the great success of our first road trip Glenbrook Swimming Club Committee members are looking forward to facilitate another trip, this is possible due to the fantastic fundraising efforts of our club members.

Gabrielle Neale, Vice Captain. Gives her thoughts on the trip.
'All the kids had a great time at MPS. Lots of medals were won and PBs made, an amazing effort by Tom Davis who swam an awesome 1500m freestyle. The first day was speedo sprint with many great efforts. We had dinner at the Imperial Hotel which was interrupted by a black out, so we moved outside and tried to have a good time but unfortunately it started to pour down rain so that was the end of dinner. When we got back to the cabins it had stopped raining so all the kids and adults sat outside and started to chat and have fun but then lightning started to strike right above us so we gave up and went to bed. The morning however was another story, it was a perfect day for a carnival, an overcast day with a bit of a breeze and the swimmers took advantage of the good weather by getting great PBs and winning lots of medals. The bus trip was so much fun but on the way back a few people fell asleep! Over all it was a great carnival enjoyed by all, hope to see lots more people there next time.'

Glenbrook Carnival 2010

Glenbrook Swimming Club held there annual Swimming Carnival in November. This is the Clubs major Fundraising exercise and it was great to see so many Glenbrook members new and old attend and support this event. The carnival was hugely successful for the club, with the number of entries exceeding all expectations. All the officials handled this well keeping the carnival running to time even with the heat. Thankyou to our catering team (Sonia Picking, Kathleen Picking and Merril Leys) for all there efforts keeping our officials hydrated and well fed. All our swimmers performed well with plenty of medals and PB’s achieved by all swimmers.
We look forward to seeing you all again in 2011
