2008 State Age Championships

Glenbrook Swimming Club was well represented at the NSW State Age Championships held recently at Homebush Olympic Pool.

Ten Club swimmers competed at this meet qualifying in 15 individual events and two relays. The most outstanding result saw 12-year-old Maya Suzuki successfully defending her State Champion title. She took gold again in the 100m freestyle in a time of 1:02.65. The winning margin of nearly a second also qualified her to swim at the national titles to be held at Brisbane in April. The club is extremely proud to have many talented swimmers, with the results a good indication of the high quality of swimmers coming through the club. Out of the 17 events, 10 were in the Top 20 of NSW.

Congratulations to all swimmers for reaching this competitive level. For Lauren, Chelsea and Cherise this was their first taste of competition at State level, and with Ellen, performed remarkably well, taking 6 seconds off their time in the medley relay. These results should continue over the next two months with a full agenda of carnivals as the summer season peaks.
